The United States releases 80,000 pages of classified documents related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

On March 18, 2025, the United States government released approximately 80,000 pages of previously classified documents related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

The move was made as part of an effort to increase government transparency and fulfill a campaign promise by President Donald Trump.

The documents included a variety of information, including communications between U.S. and Australian intelligence agencies.

One key document was a 1968 memo recommending that certain Warren Commission documents not be declassified, which referred to an anonymous phone call to the Canberra Embassy.

While some of the documents were declassified in 1976, their full contents were not revealed until 2023.

The release also included files related to the assassinations of Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr.

The move was expected to answer long-standing public questions about the events and increase government accountability.

While many of the documents have been released, some are skeptical that the new information will change the public's understanding of the events.

Historians and researchers continue to analyze these documents to gain more insight into the assassination that has fueled conspiracy theories for decades.

The release of these documents marks a significant step in the government’s efforts to increase transparency and fulfill its promise to the public about disclosing important historical information.
